Hair
When looking at hair for women through the past century you can see many changes. One that sticks out the most for me is how the length of hair seems to go on a cycle of short, medium, long, repeat. Ackerman talks about how each hairstyle from each decade represented a different thing. For example, when her mother was younger they believed that "serious women have serious hairdos that are formal, stayed, and don't move... loose ends on one's head means loose ends in one's life." With this Ackerman says this is probably why women wear their hair in tight buns, under scarfs or hats.
Animals
Animals use their sense of touch to help them detect danger but to also to find comfort and pleasure. When a baby giraffe is born it falls about an average of 6 feet into this world, after the fall the mother then cleans it up and helps it stand for the first time. These first few touches when a giraffe is born creates a bond with its mother, just like other mammals.
