For this piece I took a close up of my map relief sculpture and changed the colors and contrast of the original photo I took.

 My inspiration to making this mask was crowns and head pieces. Every crown and head piece that has been made in history have always represented royalty in some way. When the crown is no longer able to be worn it kept in a safe place that it stay for the rest of time. So to represent the eternity of crowns I choose to use the archway,  which represents the entrance to eternal life. So by having the model walk through the archway she is entering eternal life and taking the crown with her. Making the crown and the girl live forever like royalty does.

The memory behind this sculpture was the time my family and I went to this little island off the coast of Puerto Rico. The thing that really made an impression about the island was how rocky and sharp the sand of the beach felt on your feet and also the color of the ocean. So the solution of this piece was to have a really ruff surface to get that rocky feel of the sand. Then the blue paint is the color of the water at the island.

Map Relief

My concept that I wanted for these piece was the maze of life that everybody goes those. The ribbons of the paper making the maze and the mounds made from the tracing paper are the road blocks that happen in life. Then the dripping of the ink represents the veins of the human body. The messy of the background of the foam board is the messiness and uncontrollable things that happen in life.

The design element for this sculpture is texture because of the ruff surface of the triangles and rectangles.

The principle of this one is focal point because when looking at it straight on your eye goes to the middle of the flower. The circles under the flower also helps with the focal point.

The principle for this sculpture is space because of the space created by the paper on the top and the rope tape on the bottom. By making a house like structure on the top with the paper it makes a space for the wood shavings to be. Then wrapping the tape around the pillars makes a space between the bottom of the house and the floor it's sitting on.
