On Longing

"The body is the primary mode of perceiving scale"
I choose this photo of my dog Copper because of the way his body looks in the photo. With his body looking smaller and head bigger showing scale and how the further in the background things look smaller than the foreground.

"Capacity of objects to serve as traces of authentic experiences."
When I saw this quote I though of the lights that they hang up every winter in downtown St. Augustine. The lights being the objects of capacity servicing as an entrainment for tourists which also gives them the experience of seeing the lights.

"The souvenir reduces the public, the monumental, and the three dimensional into the miniature, that which can be enveloped by the body."
The first part of the quote reminded me of this photo and how small the people and objects look even those they are not that far off in the distance.

"Nostalgia cannot be sustained without loss."
I chose this photo because without the flower being taken away from it's stem, and dying eventually, it would have never been taken and been presented in this way.

"To have a souvenir of the exotic is to posses both a special and trophy."
I thought this quote worked perfect with this photo because it is not very often you see air balloons on an ordinary day. By taking this photo I have also taken passion of the exotic and made it some type of trophy.
